Israeli Citizenship after serving in another government?

I'm a 22 year old American about to commission into the US Army. My mother isn't Jewish and I only attended synagogue sporadically with my Father (the Jewish on) and don't practice Judaism or speak much Hebrew (I know that it isn't a disqualifier but does it affect the process at all?). I recently visited Israel for the first time (wasn't birthright) and loved it. If I eventually leave the US Army and want to get Israeli citizenship will I be able to and will I still be able to serve in the IDF?
