If one does IDF service as chayal boded can one still get free university if the service is 3 years?

so if one were to make aliyah, the ability to receive free school lasts 3 years i have read. if one serves in the army can you get the government to put the normal benefits like schooling and the import tax exemptions aside until the end of your service?
