I'm really interested in becoming a sweet lolita, but I'm scared of the reaction of others?

I really would like to be a sweet lolita..I've wanted too for awhile, but never have. Now I'm serious about it but I'm afraid of how others will react...I don't care about what people think generally, but I'm afraid some of my friends would be embarassed to be seen in public with me if I was dressed as a sweet lolita... any advice?
